School Nutrition Bill

After much work and collaboration, the School Nutrition Bill was put into action on July 1, 2006. Officially known as Public Act 06-63: An Act Concerning Healthy Food and Beverages in Schools; the act outlines the food and beverages that will be sold during regular school hours.

  Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Pilot

U A United States Department of Agriculture initiative to iniincrease fresh fruit and vegetable consumption in ssschools. The program provides free fresh and dried fruits a and vegetables to students in the twenty-five participating
   schools.

   Farm to School Program
 
   This program is an opportunity to bring locally grown       f   foods into schools. As a result, the health of  CConnecticut's children is improved and farmers' mmarketing opportunitites and income is increased.
