Are you an older adult living in Connecticut interested in applying for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits? End Hunger Connecticut! is here to help! Watch the video above and download a flyer of frequently asked questions from older adults about the SNAP process as you prepare to apply. You can download the document here (available in English and Spanish).

When you’re ready, we invite you to take our SNAP Prescreener, a quick way to determine if you are eligible to receive SNAP benefits. Our new feature allows you to set up an appointment over the phone with our EHC! Call Center. However, the callback is not the only option, and you will have other options on how to proceed if you are eligible for SNAP upon completing the prescreener

If I do not have access to a computer, how can I apply?

Call End Hunger Connecticut! at 1-866-974-SNAP (7627) and someone from our Call Center will assist you. We have Associates available to assist you seven days a week in both English and Spanish.

Do I have to include my pensions in my total monthly income?

Yes, any income that is received during the month must be counted.

If I receive Social Security, will I be eligible for SNAP?

This will depend on how many people are in your household and what the total household income is. Income is looked at which will include how much you receive from Social Security.

What assets are considered when looking to see if I may be eligible?

For those households, total assets including cash, savings accounts, stocks and bonds cannot be more than $4,250.

How do I get my documents over to the Department of Social Services (DSS)?

You can submit your documents via email or text to End Hunger Connecticut! (we will provide further instruction) and we can upload it for you. We can create a MyAccount on your behalf if you do not have one.

I have a live in nurse, do I have to include their income?

You will need to report their income if you both buy and prepare food together.
